SHIGAKOGEN and the"Shibu toge area"

Hotel Kodama is located in the Chuo area.

Ichinose in Shiga Kogen,  in the Joushinetsu National Park.

The ski slopes with powdery snow are located in front of the hotel, and you can reach the Ichinose ski area, which is the closest ski slope by our hotel, in a 2-minute walk.

This ski slope is available even at night. You can enjoy skiing and snowboarding from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

In addition, there is a bus service for free only in winter in Shiga Kogen.

Please use the bus that departs from the Ichinose ski resort bus stop, in front of our hotel, bound for ski slopes of the ‘’Yokote yama area’’ and ‘’Shibu toge area’’.

The elevations of each slope are about 1,600m to 2,300m. These were selected as the location for alpine skiing and snowboarding in the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. The snow is as great as the other world's most famous ski slopes.

You will be comfortably enveloped by the tenderness of nature.

The season when plants and trees sprout and flowers bloom.

The most area in Shiga Kogen is designated as the National Park. To protect and also present the abundant nature, sightseeing course, Natsuyama lift and gondola are built to take you on a tour through the panorama. Shiga Kogen is also registered as a UNESCO ecology park in Japan. Shiga Kogen, including mt. Shiga, Onuma pond, and Shiju-hachi pond is the center of the park. This 10 ㎢ area is specially protected in the long run. Shigakogen’s late Spring starts on June. It is the season when trees turn into the darker shade of green and for people to start hiking and mountain climbings. Hiking will take a tour through a natural forest, unique alpine plants, mysterious Onuma pond and Shiju-hachi wetland.
